What Makes Mineral B Unique
The Mineral B line is forged from 100% carbon steel in a single seamless sheet—no welds or PTFE/PFOA coatings. Designed for high-heat searing and the Maillard reaction, these skillets deliver exceptional browning and flavor retention. Key features:
- Pure carbon-steel construction, naturally nonstick once seasoned
- Waxed with pure beeswax from de Buyer’s own hives for rust protection
- Traditional French-style handle riveted for strength and balance
- “Lyonnaise” flared shape for easy food transfer to plates
- Chemical-free production process for daily food-safe use
Seasoning Your Mineral B Pan
- Wash with hot water and a mild detergent to remove the beeswax coating.
- Pour a thin layer of cooking oil into the pan and heat over medium-high until it just begins to smoke.
- Allow to cool, then wipe out any excess oil with paper towel. Your pan is now seasoned and ready for use.
Using Your Mineral B Pan
Preheat the pan until a drop of water “dances” on the surface—this ensures proper searing. Avoid overheating an empty pan. For perfect sear marks, maintain high heat for about 1½ minutes per side on meats; then reduce heat for finishing. Stainless-steel or metal utensils are fine—Carbon steel only improves with use, darkening into a superior natural nonstick patina.
Cleaning & Storage
Hand-wash immediately after use with hot water (no soaking), using a brush or spatula to remove residue. Dry thoroughly with a towel, then lightly coat inside and out with cooking oil to prevent rust. Store in a dry place. If rust appears, scrub with steel wool and re-season as above.
