- 500 g fresh shrimp (unpeeled)
- 1 cup long-grain basmati rice (200 g)
- 1 bell pepper (½ red + ½ green)

- 4 tbsp oil

- In a large pot, bring 1.5 liters salted water to a boil. Add shrimp and cook just until they turn pink, about 1-2 minutes. Drain shrimp, reserving the cooking water. Return water to pot.
- Peel shrimp, removing head, shell, and tail (leave tails on 6 shrimp for garnish). Cut peeled shrimp into 3-4 pieces.
- Add shrimp heads, shells, and tails (except reserved tails) back to the pot with water. Simmer for 15 minutes to make shrimp broth. Strain and discard solids.
- Finely dice onion and bell peppers. Sauté in heated oil until soft. Add canned tomatoes (mashed with a fork) and cook until oil separates and rises to surface.
- Add crushed garlic and white wine. Cook until wine evaporates and oil separates again. Remove vegetables and set aside.
- In the same pan, add rice, 2½ cups shrimp broth, cumin, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Bring to boil, cover, and simmer on very low heat until rice is tender and liquid absorbed (15-20 minutes).
- Stir cooked vegetables and chopped shrimp into the rice. Adjust seasoning.
- Arrange reserved shrimp tails on top for decoration. Cover and let stand 10 minutes before serving.
